Deadline: Friday, January 31, 2013
The Tennessee Association of Museums awards three Scholarships to the annual meeting. Each scholarship will go to a qualified recipient from each Grand division of the state. The scholarship recipient receives full conference registration fee waivers, accommodations for two nights at the Conference hotel and a transportation allowance of up to $50.
TAM established this scholarship program to encourage students to enter the museum field, to promote museum studies in Tennessee's higher education institutions, and to encourage networking opportunities among new museum professionals.
ELIGIBILITY:
Undergraduate students, graduate students, museum interns, and first-year museum professionals may apply for a TAM scholarship. They must be residents of Tennessee, be employed in Tennessee, or attend a school in Tennessee.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
Applicants should email a letter of application to
tnmuseums@gmail.com. The letter should be no more than one page in length and should include the applicant's mailing address, daytime phone, reasons for wanting to attend the Conference and a brief description of interest and experience in museums.
In addition, applicants should include a resume and the name and phone number of at least one reference who can attest to the applicant's interest in the museum field.
Scholarship winners will be asked to submit an essay or blog about their experiences at the TAM conference. This can be used by the Tennessee Association of Museums in print or on their website.
All questions can be addressed to Debbie Shaw at

Humanities Tennessee Scholarships
Deadline: February 14th, 2014
Humanities Tennessee and the Tennessee Association of Museums (TAM) are pleased to announce our joint scholarship program for the 2014 TAM conference, to be held March 19-21 in Greeneville, TN. This initiative stems from our organizations' commitment to provide opportunities for professional and organizational development of Tennessee's museums and humanities community. Past conference sessions covered relevant topics such as collections care, exhibit design, and fundraising. The complete program will soon be available at
www.tnmuseums.org.
Each scholarship provides two nights lodging at the General Morgan Inn, all meals provided by the conference, and conference registration fees. Scholarship recipients will be responsible only for their mileage and an institutional TAM membership.
The scholarships are available to volunteers without museum related backgrounds who work with a nonprofit museum or organization that is starting a museum. Organizations with paid, professionally trained staff are not eligible, nor are previous scholarship recipients. Preference will be given to applicants whose organizations are new to TAM.
Interested organizations must submit a simple application form in order to receive a scholarship. Scholarships are available for two people from each organization.
