Conference Deadlines Coming Up!

Awards Nominations, Hotel Reservations

Happy New Year!  We are just 2 short months away from the annual TAM Conference,
"Museums of Many Colors," to
be held March 15-17
 in beautiful Pigeon Forge!
Are you ready? Do you have your hotel room reserved? Are those award nominations
ready to send in? Have you thought about some awesome auction items to bring?
Here's all the information you need for these important details...

TAM's Awards of Excellence recognize the special projects and accomplishments achieved at your museum during 2016. All Tennessee museums, regardless of staff size or budget, are encouraged to participate in the TAM Awards. From exhibits to educational programs, volunteers to special events, submit your nominations to highlight the best of the best. And don't forget, the Emerging Professional Award recognizes exceptional promise and potential for emerging professionals in the museum field.

Contact your Awards Committee Representative, Awards Chair Tori Mason at tmason@nashvillezoo.org, or State Coordinator Debbie Shaw at tnmuseums@gmail.com or 615-495-3354 with any questions you may have. There are several new committee members so be sure to look over the committee member page to see who your representative is. At-large representatives can also be contacted with any questions.

The online registration form can be found HERE.

Rooms are going fast!  After this date, the rooms will be released to the general public and the rates will increase.  The Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center Pigeon Forge is located at 3230 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, TN.

Call for Auction Items!

The annual silent and live auctions are a highlight of every conference, and this year is no exceptionImage result for going going gone auctionThe silent auction will run Wednesday and Thursday, and the live auction will take place Thursday evening.

As always, we are looking for fun and unique items that will intrigue bidders. Books, tickets to events, clothing, art work, pottery, and bottles of wine from one of our Tennessee wineries always bring in the bids.  Weekend getaways including tickets to cultural attractions, hotel stays, and dinner at local restaurants are also quite appealing. Gift baskets, children's items and other rare and unique items often create fun bidding wars. What can you bring to add to the excitement? Who can bring the most creative and coveted item??

Please print and complete an auction registration form for each item and bring to the conference with your auction items.  An auction registration table will be near the conference registration at the hotel.  If you plan to mail your items in advance, please contact Debbie Shaw at tnmuseums@gmail.com for address information.  All proceeds benefit TAM and the services it offers its members.  Your support is greatly appreciated!
