CONGRATULATIONS

to the 2022 TAM and HT Scholarship Winners!!

West TN Winner:  Lauren Whaley

Lauren Whaley is the Administrative Assistant for the Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau and serves as a liaison to the Tennessee River Museum in Savannah, TN. She is responsible for day-to-day operations in the Tennessee River Museum including overseeing finances, digitally cataloging the collections, and education. Lauren received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Tennessee at Martin and is planning to complete her Master of Arts in Public History with a focus in Historic Administration from the University of North Alabama in 2022. She serves on the Tennessee RiverLine Hardin County Local Leadership Team as a representative for the Tennessee River Museum where she recently received Hardin County’s 2021 Extra Mile Award. In her spare time, Lauren loves to cross-stitch, read, and travel with her husband, Reid, and their corgi, Sam.

Middle TN Winner:  Catie Latham

Catie currently works as the Collections and Operations Manager for Historic Castalian Springs–a newly merged nonprofit that manages three rural Tennessee Historical Commission Sites located north of Nashville–after finishing her Masters in Public History at Middle Tennessee State University. She chose this topic as it represents a core element in how Historic Castalian Springs is developing their interpretation post-merger and an area that has seen increased engagement from site audiences.

East TN Winner:  Samuel Bowen

My name is Samuel Bowen, and I am from Greeneville, Tennessee. Currently, I am in my senior year at Tusculum University majoring in Museum Studies. I have volunteered in the museum field since the age of 13. It was this time I found my love for history and museums. I am honored to be chosen as one of the 2022 TAM scholarship recipients and hope to make the most of this experience.
