Do you love Tennessee history? Would you like a part-time position that shares the history of one of Tennessee’s most historic buildings?  If so, we want to speak with you!

The Tennessee State Museum is filling a part-time Tennessee State Capitol tour guide position.  This position is responsible for leading tours at the historic Tennessee State Capitol.  A Capitol tour guide will work with a variety of audiences including walk-in visitors, K-12 students, civic groups, constituent groups, and tourists.  Tours will focus on Tennessee history, the history of the Tennessee State Capitol, and the functions of Tennessee state government.

The Capitol guide position is a front facing position that serves as an ambassador of the State Capitol to visitors from around the world.  Applicants will need to be able to interact with visitors and audiences in an engaging, respectful, and welcoming manner.  A customer-centered attitude, public speaking abilities, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for the position.

Necessary Skills Include:

  • ·         Flexibility
  • ·         Ability to speak/act professionally with a variety of people

Salary range is $15-$17 per hour
